SUMMARY: Stolen package. Lord and Taylor won't help until I file and fax a police report.

They did not even ask my identity or the order info - I was immediately refused service. WHOLE STORY: My package was stolen this morning because Lord and Taylor did not require a signature and the driver left the package in the doorway. I reported it to FedEx immediately and then called Lord and Taylor customer service. I told them a package had been stolen and they immediately said 'because this is a recorded line and you said the package was stolen we need a police report.' I asked them if I could do anything else at that time and they were unwilling to even talk without the police report.

Usually large companies take care of their customers but not these guys. They immediately wrote me off before even ascertaining my identity or the order info.

This has never happened before with me with L&T and has only happened once with another company years ago, so there is no precedent for this company to distrust me, except I guess their policy is based on assuming customers are trying to cheat and defraud them rather than providing customer service. If you have problems getting packages, like many city dwellers, be forewarned that if your package is stolen, you will have to run around wasting your time filing a police report, faxing it to them, and waiting for follow up.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $261.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.

Lord And Taylor Pros: Product, Price, Competitive price.

Lord And Taylor Cons: Phone customer service, Stolen package policy, Implementation of stolen package policy, Did not request signature on package, Not taking responsibility with customer jumping through hoops.

So, they are suppose to just take your word and send you double the amount of products you paid for with no proof of anything? If you are an honest person that truly just had something bad happen to you, then it does stink.

But, that's reality. There's too much crime/too many scams going on.

Also, the delivery driver is not your personal delivery driver. Everyone knows those delivery services leave the packages if no one answers (because, God forbid if they didn't, people would then complain because they were expecting to come home to their package.) Stinks, but reality.
